Privacy Policy
Bellaire and Day LLC is a Delaware company. We source single casks, bottle them untouched, and sell them. This policy covers bellaireandday.com.
It is short, because the site collects very little and, importantly, never handles your payment details. That part is explained below.
The age gate does not record anything
The first thing the site asks is whether you are 21 or older. Your answer is not stored, not sent anywhere, and not attached to you. All that happens is that your browser remembers, for the current tab only, that the question has been answered, so it stops asking. Close the tab and even that is gone.
We do not ask for your date of birth anywhere on this site.
What we collect
If you join the list. Your email address. That is the only field on the form.
If you use a form to write to us. The contact form takes your name, email, what the message is about, and the message. The bespoke and tastings enquiry forms also ask about the type of event and the occasion, so we can answer sensibly.
Automatically, when you browse. Which pages you visit, the page that referred you, the approximate region your visit came from, and your browser and device type. This comes from Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics.
If you buy a bottle
This is the part worth reading carefully.
Shipping alcohol in the United States is heavily regulated, so the shop does not work the way an ordinary online store does. When you buy, the cart and the entire checkout are run by AccelPay, our alcohol commerce provider, and the order is fulfilled through licensed retailers.
What that means in practice: your card details never reach Bellaire and Day. We have no payment page, no card field, and no checkout code of our own. The information you enter to complete a purchase, including your name, delivery address and payment details, is collected and held by AccelPay under its own privacy policy at https://www.accelpay.io/privacy-policy, along with whatever age and identity checks the law requires at the point of sale.
We can see order records in our AccelPay account, which is how we know what sold and where it went, and we use those records to handle your order and answer questions about it.
What we do with it
Your email address is used to send you occasional emails about new releases and what we are up to. Nothing else.
Your message is read and answered.
The analytics tell us which bottles and articles people actually read about, so we make better decisions about what to source next. We do not use any of it to build profiles or to target advertising.
No advertising tracking
There is no Meta pixel on this site, no Google Ads conversion tag, no Pinterest tag, and no retargeting of any kind. Looking at a bottle here does not cause it to follow you around the internet.
Who else handles it
- AccelPay runs the cart, the checkout, and fulfilment. https://www.accelpay.io/privacy-policy
- Mailchimp, part of Intuit, holds the email list and sends the emails. https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/
- Formspree receives the enquiry forms and delivers them to our email. https://formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
- Vercel hosts the site and provides Vercel Analytics. https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Google provides Google Analytics and serves the fonts the site uses. https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We may disclose information where the law requires it, which for a licensed alcohol business includes the records regulators are entitled to see.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies so that repeat visits can be told apart. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies. AccelPay may set its own cookies when you use the cart, under its policy.
The age gate uses sessionStorage rather than a cookie, and holds nothing but a yes.
There is no cookie banner here. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers an opt-out extension at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout that turns off Google Analytics entirely.
How long we keep it
You stay on the email list until you unsubscribe, at which point you come off it.
Messages you send stay in our email after they are answered. Order records are kept as long as a business selling alcohol is required to keep them, which is longer than we would otherwise choose.
Your choices
Unsubscribing. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. It works immediately. You can also write to hello@bellaireandday.com.
Asking what we hold. Write to hello@bellaireandday.com and we will tell you. For most people it is an email address and nothing else.
Correcting or deleting it. Ask and we will do it, apart from order records we are required to keep.
Most US state privacy statutes, California's included, apply to businesses far larger than this one and do not reach us. We offer these choices because they are the right way to treat customers, not because a statute compels it.
Legal drinking age only
This is a whisky site. It is intended only for people of legal drinking age in their location, which in the United States means 21 or older. It is not directed at anyone younger and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information, write to hello@bellaireandday.com and it will be deleted.
Security
We hold very little: an email list and an inbox. The rest, including everything sensitive about a purchase, sits with providers whose business it is to handle that properly. The site is served over HTTPS throughout. No business can promise that nothing will ever go wrong.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date at the top changes and the new version is posted here.
