Tasting Notes
Deep cherry wood. Rich and vibrant, the ruby port influence is visible from the moment you pour.
Sweet pineapple, cherries and plums up front, with hints of vanilla and oak underneath. Fresh and inviting with good complexity.
Luscious plums and cherries give way to dark chocolate and a whisper of cinnamon. The port influence is present but never overwhelming.
Long and warming. The fruit lingers, the chocolate stays, and a gentle oakiness rounds everything out cleanly.
The Story
Linkwood is one of Speyside's finest and most underappreciated distilleries. Built in 1821, it sits outside Elgin and has spent most of its life providing the backbone of famous blends, which is precisely why so little of it reaches the market as a single malt. When we found this cask, the decision was easy.
The ruby port barrique finish adds a layer of depth that lifts the classic Speyside character without erasing it. This is not a port bomb. It is a Speyside whisky that has been finished thoughtfully, and it shows in every sip.
